Dear Valued Direct Seller,
Welcome, my name is Kevin McNabb and in September 1985 I began my own personal development journey. My goal at the time (and still is) was to positively influence hundreds of thousands of people around the world. I knew that in order to be that influential, I would need to be the best person I was capable of being. So I took a page out of Og Mandino’s life and started visiting libraries and reading every personal development book I could get my hands on. Since that time, I have spent well over $100,000 in books, audio programs, and seminars all over North America, Europe and Asia.
Earlier in 1985 I began my due diligence into the direct selling profession as I had decided that network marketing was my future and not climbing the corporate ladder building someone else’s dream.
It was during this due diligence that I realized that all the top network marketing companies offered a “marketing system” for their distributors, but lacked a personal development component. Actually I was incorrect; the personal development component was sold as tools to a distributor with the proceeds going directly to your up-line. This was my first introduction to a leadership income stream.
Over the next 15 to 20 years as I looked closely at the various personal development options that were available to me, I came to the conclusion that something was missing from these resources.
Now do not get me wrong, the content in most cases was excellent, however, the majority of these resources lacked an implementation strategy for the student. The implementation component was in my opinion the most important part of the resources available in the Direct Selling Profession.
My corporate background was leadership development, so it was natural for me to want resources readily available for a new distributor that had all the components from content to full implementation strategy.
It wasn’t until mid 2006 during a dinner with my mentor in Charlotte, North Carolina that the idea for a personal development series designed specifically for the direct selling profession was born.
During this dinner, I expressed my concern about the lack of implementation strategy in the majority of personal development resources that existed today. The reaction I received from my mentor was not what I was expecting. Now keep in mind, I was very respectful when I commented on the lack of implementation strategy for the resources. My mentor smiled and looked at me and said, “So what are YOU going to do about it?”
The idea for The Responsible Direct Sellers Series™, a series of personal development resources designed specifically for the direct selling profession took flight.
I had just committed to launching the series in January 2008 and I was not sure exactly how I was going to do it.
I was building my network marketing organization full time in 37 countries, so my time was at a premium.
So, for the next two years while travelling all over North America, South America, Europe and parts of Asia, I used the time on the flights to layout the ideas for content and write my first book.
On January 22, 2008 I released my first e-book entitled, “The Responsible Direct Seller’s Guide to Ethics,” and the series was launched.
The Responsible Direct Seller Series™ will consist of a total of 276 individual resources using various media and will cover such topics as:
Attitude, Dreaming, Decision Making, Ethics, Failure and Adversity, Finances, Goal Setting, Habits and Personal Effectiveness, Leadership, Meeting New People, Direct Selling Offline & Online, Our Language, People Skills, Personalities, Recognition, Rejection, Sales, Succeeding, Thinking, Winning is a Mindse
What is the Significance with the name, The Responsible Direct Seller Series™?
It is my opinion that we have a huge responsibility for our actions within the direct selling profession.
The best part of the direct selling profession is the people that join. The worst part of the direct selling profession is the people that join.
In other words, how we act, what we say, promise, suggest, hint towards, etc. Needs to be handled in a responsible manner.
This is what “The Responsible Direct Seller Series™” is all about. It offers a solid foundation of personal development for all levels of leadership in the industry and does not exclude anyone, except those that choose to exclude themselves.
The Responsible Direct Seller Series™ will unfold as such:
