Is Success Truly for Everyone?

In this day and age of economic upheavals and what appears to be an uncertain future, are there people that still don’t desire to succeed?

This question may come seem on the surface to be pessimistic; however, the law of averages shows us that most people that we know today will never achieve success.

The sad thing in my opinion is that the majority of the people that I meet on a daily basis when asked, will actually dream about success and openly talk about it when prompted. The reality is even though it appears that a lot of energy is being focused on success, most people will never bring it to fruition.

Let’s explore for a moment why most people will never achieve success in their lifetime. Here are some key reasons:

• When asked about success, most people describe it as something you wish for and if you’re lucky, or it is your time (like the lottery), then you will achieve success.

• Others will describe the achievement of success as though it was a place and time in their future that they need to arrive at in order to possess it.

Here is the harsh reality about success; it has nothing to do with a place in time or a physical destination. Success is only achieved by daily habits that are focused on achieving that success.

Now I have some news that may surprise some people. Being a lucky person or a person that possesses great wealth will not guarantee you success, I believe we all know people that seem to have these ingredients and would not be characterized as successful.

Success can be achieved by the following three understandings:

1. The tasks and what you focus on daily will determine who you become.

2. What you do consistently each and every day forms your habits and then these habits form who you become.

I have good and bad news for you. The good news is that each and every day you are developing who you will become. The possible bad news is that you are fully responsible for the type of person you become based on what you do each and every day.

The following are recommendations on how to make you a more successful individual.

Each and every day, wake up and promise yourself that what you are going to grow as an individual. The daily focus of personal development and self growth is a critical ingredient to becoming successful.

Know in your heart that what is important is the journey and not the individual milestones along the way. The events of life do nothing for us but sharpen our decision making muscles. If you truly want to take your life to the highest level possible, focus daily on improving yourself.

Perseverance is exactly what you will need to achieve success. Anybody can show up on the sunny days, or when they are feeling good. Your character and thus your success will be the result of what you do when you don’t feel like doing something. When in doubt, persevere.

Everything in life has a price, so be prepared for delayed gratification. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that success does not come without a price. The price is set; your decision is whether or not you are willing to pay it and whether you want to pay for it on the front end or the back end.

Remember the power that all children possess, the power to dream. Don’t limit yourself by dreaming small, let yourself go and dream big.

By planning ahead carefully and mastering the art of time management, you will find that you will actually have more of it to use for the science of implementation.

Be keenly aware that there is nothing on this earth that holds any true value that will be achieved without some form of sacrifice. Don’t waste your time trying to achieve success without having to sacrifice something.

Take the time to implementing the above recommendation and you will become successful. Now it will not necessarily be overnight, and it may take awhile for others to notice, but what is most important is that you personally will notice your progress.

Persevere, persevere, and persevere. You will be successful in the end.

It is important to understand that leadership is an art and can be summed up in two steps: always face reality and act quickly and in a decisive manner on that reality.

When trying to lead an organization, it is important to ensure that all parties are viewing reality as it truly is and not as they wish or hope it should be.

By the way, this is as easy as herding cats!

So where would a leader start in order to have all parties viewing reality as it is? The leader needs to create a team atmosphere and attitude that encourages all team members to see things as they are, to focus on the way it is now, not the way each member wishes it to be.

As a leader you may be responsible for a small team or for the entire organization. Either way you need to be willing to take a hard look at your organization and make the necessary changes to achieve the desired result.

If one was to look back on their own experiences, you will probably find that most of your mistakes have been the result of you not being willing to face that reality and then take the appropriate action on that reality.

When you distil team management down to its core, you will find that it comes down to defining the reality and taking the appropriate action.

There is no room for hoping that things will change, waiting for the next plan to come along, or constantly rethinking or second guessing yourself. It comes down to taking action.

Let’s take a look at an example of reality for all global businesses: The Internet.

You may be part of an organization that was developed during or after the Internet came into its own, but what of those that had a legacy long before the Internet became a reality?

For those leaders to accept reality, it means that they need to accept the fact that e-business is here. E-business is not something that is coming, it is not something that will happen in the future, it’s here.

A lot of companies that had a legacy long before the Internet became a reality have done the business version of sticking their head in the sand.

If your organizations business interest is to compete and more so to win, you need to face reality and move quickly in this constant changing business environment.

Leadership Insight

Face reality today! Any business leader that chooses not to face reality is setting themselves and their organizations up for failure.

Take massive action on your reality. It is not good enough just to face reality; you must take massive and decisive action that reflects that reality.

Focus on constantly turning your business around. By constantly focusing on reality you have the opportunity to turn any bad situation into a great victory. With your head in the sand, you don’t stand a chance.

It should be obvious to everyone that our channels of communication will continue to evolve, just as commerce will continue to evolve.

It is with this knowledge that all MLM distributors should focus intensely on the power of e-commerce and how to effectively use the power of the internet to personally brand themselves.

As a young MLM distributor you will need to understand that the older members of your down line will require your patience and guidance to harness the power of the internet to develop their businesses.

It is with this mentor-mentee relationship that will help your organization overcome the hurdle some of them have: fear of the unknown.

As a leader of your organization you have an excellent opportunity to lead by example.

Always remember that in most organizations; only 50% of the people will do what you do correctly, while 100% of the people will do what you do that is incorrect. I.e. if you decide to use email to spam about your business opportunity, do not be surprised that the rest of your organization will follow in your footsteps and use this unethical business practice.

In the world of network marketing where the tradition of face-to-face communication was the norm, the adoption of technology provides any size organization to become transparent and drives excitement.

By embracing technology in your organization and helping those that are less technically savvy to embrace it as well, this transparency will develop a culture where everyone in your organization has total access to everything to move their businesses forward.

The Internet and the technologies that further enhance its power will allow an MLM distributor to develop a true global business opportunity while still maintaining the relationships that are necessary to develop your organization.

An MLM distributor’s role should be to develop leaders within his/her organization. The use of technology to handle the repetitive training and information flow is critical to free up leadership to focus on the relationships of these new leaders.

Some MLM companies believe that the old way of doing business is the best way to proceed and they run away from the power of the Internet. It is this lack of understanding of technology that will be the demise of these companies unless there is a swift adoption of technology to help them do business.

In the end, an MLM company that decides to use this revolutionary technology to better serve their distributors will see a measurable increase in distributor retention.

Kevin McNabb

I give value first.

Evidence of the value I give can be found everywhere. My blog, my articles, and my resources are full of free things you can learn from me. The value generates interest from others (you included).

      I help other people.

To the ability that I am able, I provide help for other people. I provide help for people the same way others have provided it for me. I can’t help everyone, but I help as many as I can.

I strive to be the best at what I love to do.

This statement is as much an affirmation as it is a philosophical expression. Striving to be my best means I never quit trying to achieve it, and I am always trying to do better. In essence, it says that so long as I am alive, I will be a student.

I establish long-term relationships with everyone.

This means in every decision that I make, I am thinking long term. When I think long term, it’s more likely that I will make better decisions, especially as relates to fairness and ethics.

I have fun and I do that every day.

The daily dose of fun is as important a dose as you could ever find, or ever find time to do. By having fun every day, it means I’m smiling every day. And if you need a deeper definition of this, it probably means you’re not having enough fun. If you LOVE what you do, all of your days are the same — they’re holidays — and I wish the same for you.
